Goran Dragic (G, Phoenix Suns), Slovenia
Height: 1.91 m, 6-foot-3 | Weight: 86 kg, 190 pounds | Born: 6 May, 1986
"I did not dare to dream that I would ever reach 40 points, then I did it in the NBA," Goran Dragic told SB Nation.
Dragic's commitment to basketball started when he was a boy living in Slovenia, waking up at 3am to watch NBA Games.
The Suns originally brought in Dragic to replace Steve Nash as point guard, but with the addition of Eric Bledsoe in the 2013 off-season, Dragic became a shooting guard. The move might have rattled some players but not Dragic.
In 2013-14, Dragic added achievement after achievement to his expanding NBA resume. He took the new opportunity to work on his own moves, and averaged 20.3 points per game compared to 14.7 in 2012-13. He had nine games scoring over 30 points and hit a career-high 40 points against the New Orleans Pelicans on 28 February, 2014. He also raised his field goal percentage (50.5%), three-point shooting percentage (40.8%) and free-throw percentage (76.0%). Dragic's 2013-14 performance lead to two milestones – 2014 NBA Most Improved Player and 2014 All-NBA Third Team.
For Dragic, it wasn't just about making it to the NBA, but thriving once he got there.
