Day 72 brings… Dennis Schroder (G, Atlanta Hawks) Germany Height: 1.85m, 6-foot-1| Weight: 76.2kg, 168 pounds | Born: 15 September, 1993 For Dennis Schroder playing in the NBA meant more than fulfilling a personal goal. He told Sixers.com, "After my father's death, everything changed for me. I tried to get better, play basketball, and try to reach my goal. I promised my dad that one day I would reach the NBA." Schroder kept that promise. The 21-year-old German sensation made it onto the Hawks squad but capped off his 2013-14 rookie season with a performance that fell a bit short of expectations averaging 3.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 13.1 minutes of play. But during the off-season, a switch turned on for Schroder. In six Summer League games, he lit up the court averaging 15.7 points per game. Shortly after, in the second qualifying round for EuroBasket 2015, he led the German National Team in points and assists with 15.3 and 5.3 respectively through the six games. His accuracy during the tournament remained on point shooting 57.1-percent from the field while going 18 for 18 from the free-throw line, helping Germany secure a spot in EuroBasket 2015. With a year's worth of NBA experience under his belt and a dominant off-season, Schroder may just have a breakout sophomore year and prove to the Hawks why he truly is a first round draft pick.
