Andrew Nicholson (F, Orlando Magic) Canada

Height: 2.06m, 6-foot-9| Weight: 113.4kg, 250 pounds | Born: 8 December, 1989

The sophomore slump is a phrase all too familiar to Orlando Magic forward Andrew Nicholson.

After a strong rookie performance in 2012-13, in which he averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds, expectations were high going into Nicholson's second season.

The big man out of Canada started off 2013-14 strong, tallying 18 points in his first game and reaching double-digit scoring in seven of his first 15 games. But shortly after that, his struggles began. Between 14 December and 11 April he reached double-digit scoring in only one game. His field-goal percentage plummeted to 42.9, a significant difference from his rookie average of 52.7.

Nicholson spoke with OrlandoMagic.com about his struggles. "It is very frustrating, but I'm just going to stay positive." He later added, "We're human, too. So natural (confidence battles) will happen. I've just got to get my rhythm back and go back to what I'm really, really good at."

With the upcoming season fast approaching, Nicholson will have the chance to start with a clean slate. His play as a rookie proves the talent is there – he just needs to find that rhythm.
